After a day when both road teams won on the first Saturday of the wild card round will the chalk come out today.
In the first game:
The Bills got into the playoffs due to Andy Dalton throwing a late TD pass in Baltimore to knock the Ravens out of the playoffs and make Dalton a king amongst the Bills Mafia in Buffalo. The Jaguars have been a very solid team all year long and by winning the division they get to play in the good weather of Jacksonville. This is a very interesting game to talk about. The Jags are a complete team if you take out the QB. In fact most people feel if the Jags had a more established QB the they would be the AFC favorites due to their stingy defense. The Bills behind Tyrod Taylor who was benched for a game this year are a great story having not made the playoffs in 17 years snapping the longest current drought in the NFL. They are a very live dog in this game now that Shady McCoy is going to play. As good as the Jaguars are they are still new to the playoffs just like the Bills and both coaches are making their NFL playoff coaching debut. I am looking for a low scoring conservatively called offensive game with either team waiting for the opponent to make a mistake. Taylor has the element of his legs and he might need to make things happen running for the Bills to win this game, Bortles is prone to make mistakes. Look for both teams to run the bell early and perhaps the team willing to open up the game first and make plays to get the lead will win. Neither team is good at playing from behind. I am very much a chalk guy and with both dogs winning out right yesterday and both games staying under you would think the home teams are going to prevail today. I do like the Jags to win but not cover and I have a feeling there may be more points scored today that people think. I am still going with the Bills plus the 8 and the under of 40. Look for a final score of 20-17.
The last game of the weekend.
The Saints started 0 -2 and then ran off a long winning streak in very un Saint like fashion with a great running game and better defense than they have had for a long time. The Panthers had a very up an down year with Cam Newton still having such bad offensive games that it makes you wonder if h should still be playing QB in this league. Gregg Olsen is still not fully healed which is a huge factor as he is in my opinion the best offensive player outside of Cam. Christian McCaffrey is a really good player and if Newton gets more consistency this team has alot of talent on offense for years to come. However the Saints are at home where they are extremely difficult to beat. But this is not your normal Saint team. They are my pick to go to the Super Bowl this year so I have them winning a comfortable game with a final score of 33-16. I think they get the lead and run the ball and play smart defense. I think the Panthers need to score first and often to win this game. Let’s see if Sean Payton sticks to what got him here and that is the big running game. So I am picking the Saints -7 and the Over 47.5
