Throwback Of The Day 11-20
My NHL team was originally created in direct response to the WHA to block them from using my arena. In 1972 I was born and moved to our new city in 1980. We were a playoff team for 6 of the 8 years we were here never winning a playoff series but attendance still was lacking. The NHL did expand again to my city for the 1999-2000 season and we are still there. Only costing 6 million initially, owner Tom Cousins estimated to have lost 12 million during the 8 years he owned the team. I even signed a prominent USA Olympian from the gold medal team in an attempt to boost attendance. Although I was rumored to be sold to a Texas city we ultimately were sold to a team much more up north for 16 million.
