WOMEN’S EVOLUTION # 13 July 4th

Renee: Welcome to Women’s Evolution and there has been a lot of buzz regarding the Queen Of The Ring match last week between Raw Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler and Io Shirai.

Paige: Yes Renee very much so. The replays clearly showed that neither superstar’s shoulders were down for a full 3 count but when the ref counted 3 both Shayna’s shoulders were down and only one of Io Shirai’s was down.

Renee: Paul Heyman has said he will be addressing that tonight with Stephanie McMahon.

Paige: That is for later tonight but what a match we have to start the show tonight. It’s a triple threat tag team match with the winner getting a title shot at VBB next week.

TRIPLE THREAT TAG TEAM MATCH

IIconics are already in the ring as the Sky Pirates come down followed up by the Horsewomen. The match starts with Jessamyn Duke against Kairi Sane. The first 5 minutes of this match and we have not seen the IIconics get in the ring

Renee: When are the IIconics getting involved in this match?

Paige: I forgot they were part of this match.

As the match continues the Horsewomen and Sky Pirates exchange near falls. Io clotheslines Marina out of the ring. The IIconics ram her into the ring post and the ring apron. Then they roll her into the ring by their corner.

Renee: What are these two doing?

Peyton goes on the apron by their corner and Billie enters the ring and goes after Io. Io backs her into the corner and Peyton tags herself in. Io looks at Peyton and Billie pulls Io into the corner and her shoulder hits the ring post. Peyton goes to cover Marina but she kicks out.

Paige: I have to admit that was pretty clever.

Peyton kicks Marina out of the ring and the IIconics start to wear down Marina. Marina manages to escape but Kairi tags herself in. The action starts to heat up now. Kairi and Io work over Peyton. As they whip Peyton into the ropes Jessamyn tags herself in. The Pirates didn’t see the tag but the ref did. Jessamyn hits a dropkick to the back of Kairi. Io and Jessamyn are the legal wrestlers in the ring. The IIconics charge into the ring. Io and Jessamyn superkick both of them. Billie falls out of the ring and Peyton falls to the mat and rolls on the apron. Marina enters the ring and holds Io while Jessamyn starts to punch and kick her. Marina goes to whip Io off the ropes but she reverses it and Kairi pulls the ropes down and Marina falls out of the ring. Marina and Kairi start fighting outside of the ring. Meanwhile, in the ring, Jessamyn goes behind Io and gives her a backstabber. Jessamyn whips Io into the corner. Peyton who is leaning up against the ring post tags Io’s back and tags herself in. No one sees this but the referee. The ref starts to count to get Io and Jessamyn to break apart but he catches a high knee to the jaw and goes down.

Renee: This match has erupted into chaos. I don’t know who the legal women are.

Shayna Baszler comes running out to the ring with Paul Heyman following her.

Renee: What are they doing here?

Shanya makes a beeline right for Io. Io does not see her and Shayna grabs her from behind and gives her a German suplex. Asuka is now coming out to the ring with the briefcase. She gets into the ring and hits Shayna with the briefcase. Marina enters the ring and spears Asuka. Kairi jumps off the top rope and hits Marina with an elbow. Jessamyn then catches Kairi with a superkick. Peyton has now entered the ring. Io goes to superkick Peyton but she ducks and hits Jessamyn. Shayna sees Asuka and clotheslines her out of the ring and follows her outside. Marina rolls outside to join the fight. Kairi goes to the top rope and jumps on all of them knocking them to the ground. The referee starts to come through. Jessamyn is still on the mat when Io suplexes Peyton off the corner turnbuckle and she falls to the ground. Io hops to the top rope to deliver the insane elbow when Billie goes on the apron and pushes her off the turnbuckle and lands on the outside. She sees Jessamyn start to come to and she gets into the ring and gives her a knee to the head. Peyton grabs Jessamyn and gives her a bulldog onto Billie’s knee and Peyton covers her for the victory.

Paige: The IIconics are getting a shot at the titles next week.

Renee: I am so confused. The ending of this match was out of control. But you have to give it to the IIconics. They were resourceful when they needed to be.

Paige: Next up we have Sarah Logan and Liv Morgan on a Moment Of Bliss.

A MOMENT OF BLISS SARAH LOGAN & LIV MORGAN

Alexa: Welcome to A Moment of Bliss. My guests this week used to be a tag team. But since one half of this team won the TV title the other half has become a cheerleader. Please welcome the TV Champion Sarah Logan and her cheerleader Liv Morgan.

Sarah: I heard what you said and I am not coming out here to get insulted by you.

Alexa: You mean we. You see Sarah since you won that title it has become all about you. And Liv can’t even get any crumbs.

Liv: Alexa I am nothing but happy for Sarah.

Alexa: What was the last time you wrestled?  (Liv starts to think) Are you happy standing in the corner watching Sarah defending that title? (Liv goes to answer but Sarah cuts her off)

Sarah: There you go trying to start trouble like always.

Alexa: I think Liv can answer that question for herself. (Alexa looks at her) No answer. Ok, we can get back to that later. Just go get me my coffee Liv. So Sarah. Do you consider this title reign legitimate? I mean you only won because Mandy Rose got all freaky on Sonya DeVille.

Sarah: I feel bad that happened to Sonya but It’s not my problem.

Alexa: Not your problem. Hmmm. Why haven’t you given Sonya Deville a rematch? (Alexa looks around) No answer. Ok, we can get back to that one later too. You have had 2 title defenses so far correct?

Sarah: Yes. I defend this title every week.

Alexa: Yeah you beat Nikki Cross yawn. Then Natalya. Do you realize Natalya loses every week but she gets a title shot?

Sarah: I only wrestle who I am told to wrestle.

Alexa: Really. You have no say? Well, I talked with Stephanie McMahon and she told me you requested to wrestle Natalya last week. Is that true:

Sarah: Yes but

Alexa: A word of advice. Don’t come on my show and lie. There is a reason why I have the number one talk show in the world. I do my homework. So I am curious why you haven’t given Sonya DeVillle a rematch? Why haven’t you been a good best friend and given Liv Morgan a title shot? Since clearly winning matches is not how your opponents get picked.

Liv: Alexa I am not fighting my best friend.

Alexa: She speaks. Did Sarah tell you to say that?

Sarah: Do you have a problem with me?

Alexa: Yes I do. I beat Carmella last week and should have won the triple threat match the week before against Ember Moon and Carmella. Why don’t you give me a title shot?

Sarah: Is this what you want?

Alexa: I want you to be a fighting champion and I want you to defend that belt against someone who can actually beat you.

Sarah: You think you can beat me?

Alexa: Oh Sarah we all already know I can. But if you were really a fighting champion why don’t you just have an open challenge every week and let everyone in the back get a chance.

Sarah(Looks at Liv) or I could just beat your ass right here right now.

Alexa: Are you sure you want to do this? I am not even prepared to wrestle.

Sarah: Get your ass in the ring.

Renee: Are we having a TV Title match right now?

Paige: It certainly looks that way

TV TITLE MATCH SARAH LOGAN VS ALEXA BLISS

Sarah charges at Alexa but keeps getting caught. Sarah’s over-aggressiveness is hurting her right now. At the 5 minute mark, the match starts to get hot. Alexa with a basement dropkick on Sarah followed by a knee drop. Alexa goes off the ropes and hits a shining wizard on Sarah. Sarah is in trouble as Alexa goes for the pin. Sarah kicks out. Alexa goes for a suplex but Sarah reverses it and gives Alexa a suplex. Sarah picks her up and gives her a headbutt. Alexa is dazed and Sarah hits the ropes and gives Alexa a double running knee strike. Sarah goes for the pin but Alexa kicks out. Alexa rolls to the apron. Sarah picks her up and Alexa grabs Sarah’s head and snaps it over the top rope. Alexa gets back into the ring and with Sarah dazed Alexa gives her a Bliss DDT. Alexa covers Sarah but she kicks out at two and a half. Alexa gets up and starts to stomp Sarah’s body. Alexa picks her up and whips her into the corner and follows her with a clothesline. Then Alexa kicks her again until she falls to the mat. Alexa goes to the top and drops a knee on Sarah. Alexa goes for the pin and another near fall. Alexa yells at the ref and hits the mat in frustration.

Renee: Alexa is getting frustrated.

Paige: Sonya is showing how tough she is and how much that title means to her.

Alexa picks up Sarah and whips her into the ropes. Sarah reverses it and clotheslines Alexa. Sarah is still groggy as Liv Morgan punches the mat getting the crowd behind Sarah. Sarah gets up and gives Alexa a butterfly suplex. Sarah goes off the ropes and drops a leg across Alexa’s neck. Sarah covers Alexa but she kicks out. Sarah gives Alexa a running big boot knocking her out of the ring right where Liv Morgan is standing. Sarah tries to go out of the ring but the ref holds her back. Alexa grabs Liv Morgan and pulls her towards her. Alexa’s back crashes into the ring apron.

Renee: What the hell is Alexa Bliss doing?

The ref sees Alexa in pain and looks at Liv right next to her and rings the bell for a DQ making Alexa Bliss the winner.

Paige: She just got Sarah Logan disqualified.

Renee: But Liv Morgan didn’t do anything.

Liv Morgan enters the ring and is arguing with the referee. Sarah goes over to Liv and is looking for an explanation. Sarah and Liv are starting to argue and we see Alexa on the outside smiling.

Renee: That Alexa Bliss is evil.

Paige: She knows how to push your buttons.

NAOMI & EMBER MOON IN RING PROMO

Renee: We have Naomi and Ember Moon in the ring.

Paige: Stephanie McMahon still has not announced who the challengers are for the Raw and Smackdown titles.

Naomi: Stephanie McMahon here we are one week later and we still have not been given our rematches.

Ember: That’s right. Did you think that we were just going to walk away? The whole WWE universe knows we were going to win the belts at Stomping Grounds.

Naomi: It’s time you step up and get control of this show and do what is right.

Ember: WWE universe do you want to see Ember Moon and Naomi get another title shot at Extreme Rules?

Naomi: Then Stephanie McMahon get your ass out here. We are not leaving this ring until we get our rematches.

Renee: Naomi this is not how you get things done.

Paige: Sometimes you have to stand up for what you want.

Stephanie’s music plays

Stephanie: Naomi. Ember. Are we really going to play this game again this week?

Naomi: You owe us rematches.

Stephanie: Nothing is ever owed to a WWE superstar.

Ember: Enough with the shit Stephanie. We are tired of how we are being treated.

Stephanie: Both of you had a shot at the title and you both failed. You couldn’t get the job done.

Naomi: Now I see it. Is it because we are not blonde?

Ember: Is it because we are black?

Stephanie: (Her eyes get real wide) I am your boss and I am an owner of this company.

Naomi: Do you think we are one of your slaves?

Ember: Do you think you own us?

Renee: Whoa. This is getting real.

Stephanie: I am not sure you want to go down this road? Are you calling me a racist? Didn’t you both have title matches at Stomping Grounds?

Naomi: Does the truth hurt?

Stephanie: (Looking at Naomi then Ember) Does the truth hurt that both of you could not get the job done? Ladies both of you have Queen Of The Ring matches tonight. Naomi your facing Bayley and Ember your facing Carmella. Win your matches tonight and then I will give you an answer before the show is over.

Ember: Why should we trust you?

Stephanie: Because I should really fire both of you for what you said to me but I am not.

Naomi: Is that supposed to make us feel better.

Stephanie: I really don’t care. And Ember your match is next.

Paige: Wow that was very serious. I hope Naomi and Ember know what they are doing?

QUEEN OF THE RING FIRST ROUND MATCH EMBER MOON VS CARMELLA

Ember Moon wins in a 6-minute match with the Eclipse. After the match, a frustrated Carmella freaked out grabbing a chair and smashing it against the ring post several times before leaving the ringside area.

Renee: What was that all about?

Paige: Carmella is in a slump and she is frustrated.

CHARLY CARUSO WITH CHARLOTTE FLAIR

Charly: I am here with Charlotte Flair. Charlotte you have a match later tonight with Lacey Evans. She is now aligned with Stephanie McMahon. What are your thoughts?

Charlotte: Stephanie McMahon just can’t get enough of me. This week it’s Lacey Evans and I have to watch out for her backup girls interfering. Next week it’s my Queen Of The Ring match against an unnamed opponent. But Charly I am the Queen WOOOOO. Everyone wants to overthrow the Queen.

Charly: You have stated that you want to be champion again. Does it matter what champion you face?

Charlotte: Charly no it doesn’t. We have both said it. Becky and I respect each other but we don’t like each other. We both know our paths will cross again one day. I also have a score to settle with Heyman and Baszler.

Charly: What about your opponent tonight?

Charlotte: Lacey Evans can’t beat me in a one on one match. I expect her buddies to get involved. I will be ready. Woooooo

Charlotte: Thanks Charly woooooo.

QUEEN OF THE RING FIRST ROUND MATCH NAOMI VS BAYLEY

Naomi wins in an 8-minute match with a rearview. This was a hard fought match from start to finish. Bayley had several near pinfalls. In the end, Naomi was just one step ahead of Bayley.

KAYLA BRAXTON WITH SONYA DEVILLE

Kayla: I am here with Sonya DeVille. The last few weeks have been very tough for you with all of the Mandy Rose stuff. But tonight you get a chance to turn things around when you face the Smackdown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch in the first round of the Queen Of The Ring Tournament. Are you worried about Mandy Rose interfering again?

Sonya: (Sonya gets annoyed and looks away from the camera)

Kayla: Sonya I can see this is hard for you. Do you have any comments regarding Mandy Rose?

Sonya walks away.

Renee: This is getting really serious now.

Paige: Mandy Rose better hope Sonya DeVille does not get her hands on her.

Renee: Sonya can’t even talk about it. You know both women well. What are your thoughts?

Paige: These two women were like sisters. They were always together. Maybe there was something more going on?

VBB VS JOBBERS

Renee: Another match against a no-name team.

Paige: Next week they will be facing the former champs.

VBB wins in 2 minutes. Afterwards, they grab microphones.

Dana: Another match and another win. Tell me, Lana. Who is going to beat us?

Lana: I know it won’t be the IIconics next week.

Dana: IIconics? Icon is in the name of that team. They think they are Icons?

Lana: (Laughs) That’s too funny. We are the real Icons. They are actually going to have to wrestle to beat us next week.

Dana: Yeah we saw you begging to not get involved in the match tonight. Personally, I was hoping for the Horsewomen to win that match.

Lana: That would have been another notch on our belts.

Dana: Next week IIconics we are going to make sure you never want to get into the ring with us ever again.

Renee: VBB showing some new found attitude since they got Stephanie McMahon’s stamp of approval.

CHARLY CARUSO WITH BECKY LYNCH

Charly: Becky Lynch you are about to have your Queen Of The Ring first round match against Sonya DeVille.

Becky: Yes. Just another feather for my cap. I can’t wait to beat this plank Sonya DeVille.

Charly: Are you aware that Mandy Rose has been interfering in Sonya’s matches?

Becky: Yes. Mandy Rose is a little weirdo. Mandy Rose if you know what’s good for you then you will stay your ass in the locker room before I slap your head right off your shoulder you dope.

Renee: The Man looks to be all business tonight.

QUEEN OF THE RING FIRST ROUND MATCH BECKY LYNCH VS SONYA DEVILLE

Sonya picks up Becky and runs her to the ropes and jumps over the top rope snapping Becky’s arm over the rope. Sonya drags Becky to the corner and slams her arm across the ring post. Sonya rolls into the ring and rolls out to avoid a count out. Sonya puts Becky in an armbar using the ring post for leverage.

Renee: This is a vicious of a Sonya as we have ever seen.

Sonya gets Becky back into the ring and places her arm on the middle turnbuckle. Sonya runs and dropkicks Becky’s arm. Becky falls out of the ring in pain. We hear Mandy Rose’s entrance music play.

Renee: Damn you Mandy.

Paige: Where is Mandy Rose?

Although we hear Mandy Rose’s music we have yet to see her. Sonya is looking around but she can’t find Mandy.

Renee: Is this some kind of joke by Mandy Rose.

Sonya rolls out of the ring and is looking confused. She looks at Paige

Paige: Sonya stay on Becky. Win this match.

Renee: Becky now has had a little bit of time to rest.

Becky kicks Sonya in the gut. Then pushes her into the ring post. Becky still favoring her arm puts Sonya back into the ring. Becky gives Sonya a sitting dropkick. Becky is not giving up. Sonya has it cinched in good. Sonya sees Mandy sitting in the front row. Sonya is not breaking the hold though. She is applying more pressure now.

Renee: Mandy Rose is sitting in the front row.

Paige: Sonya don’t worry about her. Finish off Becky.

Renee: But what if Mandy gets involved.

Mandy hops over the guard rail and goes on the apron. Sonya breaks the hold. She runs out of the ring and is chasing Mandy around the ring.

Renee: Mandy did it again.

Mandy runs into the ring and as Sonya enters the ring Becky superkicks her. Mandy stops and goes toward Sonya when Becky spears her. Becky looks at Sonya and gives her a DDT. Becky then sees Mandy start to get up and Becky gives her a shining wizard and Mandy falls out of the ring.

Renee: Becky escapes with a win. Give an assist to Mandy Rose.

Paige: Becky does not look happy that Mandy Rose got involved.

Mandy is crawling up the ramp towards the back. Becky runs out of the ring and starts yelling at Mandy. I told you to not get involved in my match. Becky starts kicking Mandy up the ramp. She grabs Mandy and throws her into the titan tron.

Paige: Mandy got what she deserved.

Renee: You have to feel for Sonya DeVille. She was in control of this match.

KAYLA BRAXTON WITH STEPHANIE MCMAHON

Kayla: Stephanie after a controversial night have you decided who is going to challenge for the Raw and Smackdown titles at Extreme Rules?

Stephanie: Kayla the comments made by Naomi and Ember Moon did not fall on deaf ears. The board of directors took those words to heart as I did. And taking into consideration all the facts we have come up with a decision. Next week Naomi will face Ember Moon with the winner taking on the Smackdown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch.

Kayla: Stephanie does that seem fair? Who is going to take on the Raw Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler?

Stephanie: I am glad you mentioned that. The winner of tonight’s main event of Lacey Evans vs Charlotte Flair will face Shayna Baszler at Extreme Rules. I heard you crying before Charlotte. To show you how fair I can be I am barring Tamina, Dana Brooke, and Lana from ringside. All you have to do to get a title shot is beat Lacey Evans.

Heyman: (Interrupts the interview clapping his hands) Bravo Stephanie Bravo. Since you are on the subject of being fair while you were on the phone with the board of directors did you happen to talk about how my client Shayna Baszler got screwed over?

Stephanie: It was mentioned. And the Board of Directors determined that the referee’s decision is final.

Heyman: Maybe you should climb back in your hole and call them back. But before you do please remember this one thing. The Horsewomen are not Naomi and Ember Moon. We are not going to hijack the show. The Horsewomen tend to handle their business in a more physical way.

Stephanie: What does that mean?

Heyman: You will find out soon enough. (Heyman walks away) Stephanie looks at Kayla.

Renee: Stephanie McMahon has had a rough night. What do you think Paul Heyman has in mind?

Paige: Knowing Heyman like I do it’s not going to be pretty.

NAOMI AND EMBER MOON IN THE LOCKER ROOM

Naomi walks up to Ember Moon and looks disgusted.

Ember: Yeah I saw and it sucks.

Naomi: I want to be the champion.

Ember: I would expect you to want that. I want that too.

Naomi: You are my sister. But sometimes the family has to fight.

Ember: I will always have your back but this is my time.

Naomi: It’s my time too.

Ember: May the best woman win.

Naomi: It will not give me any pleasure to beat you. But that is what’s going to happen.

Ember: Yeah we will see about that.

Renee: That match next week is going to be amazing to watch.

Paige: Both are close friends but this is for a championship opportunity. Friendship goes out the window.

CHARLOTTE FLAIR VS LACEY EVANS

Renee: Stephanie McMahon has just raised the stakes for this match.

Paige: A match with the Raw Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler is hanging in the balance.

Renee: And Stephanie has barred Tamina, Dana Brooke, and Lana from ringside.

Charlotte starts going right at Lacey with punches and kicks as she backs her into the corner. Charlotte whips Lacey into the opposite corner and catches her with the Queen’s Boot as she bounces out of the corner.

Renee: Charlotte is on fire tonight.

Charlotte starts to work on Lacey’s leg. Charlotte with several knee drops on Lacey’s leg. Charlotte drags Lacey to the ropes and puts her leg on the bottom rope and jumps on her leg. Lacey rolls around in pain. Charlotte goes for the figure 8 but Lacey kicks her off and manages to roll out of the ring. Charlotte goes out after her. Charlotte charges at Lacey to give her a spear but Lacey moves out of the way and Charlotte hits the guard rail.

Paige: This is the opening Lacey needs.

Lacey picks up Charlotte and smashes her head into the ring steps. Lacey rolls into the ring to stop the count then rolls back out. Lacey faces Charlotte towards the ring post then grabs her arms from the other side and pulls Charlotte into the ring post. Charlotte’s shoulder smashes into the steel. Lacey rolls Charlotte back into the ring. Lacey goes for the cover. Charlotte barely kicks out. Lacey wraps Charlotte’s arm around the top rope and snaps her arm multiple times. Charlotte snaps Lacey’s neck into the bottom rope.

Paige: Charlotte bought herself some time.

Charlotte rolls back into the ring and stomps on Lacey’s knee. Charlotte picks up Lacey and whips her into the corner but Lacey reverses it. Charlotte hits the corner and slumps to the mat. Lacey gives her a bronco buster. Lacey picks up Charlotte for a powerbomb but she bounces her off the top rope for momentum and smashes Charlotte down to the mat. Lacey goes to the top rope for a moonsault but Charlotte lifts her knees and Lacey crashes into them. Charlotte pops up and puts Lacey into the Figure 8. Then Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir run towards the ring.

Renee: They have no business here.

Charlotte sees them and breaks the hold. Charlotte gets up and stares at them. The ref gets out of the ring and is yelling at the Horsewomen to leave the ring area. Shayna Baszler on the opposite of the ring comes out of the crowd and is walking towards the ring near Lacey Evans. Charlotte goes on the top rope and moonsaults the Horsewomen and the referee. Shayna gets into the ring and starts to work over Lacey Evans. She gives her two twisted arm stomps then locks her into the Fujiwara armbar.

Renee: The referee is down and there is no one here to stop Shayna.

Paige: We need to get a new referee out here.

Charlotte now gets up and sees Shayna in the ring. She grabs a chair and hits Shayna in the back. Charlotte drops the chair and starts fighting with Shayna. They are exchanging punches and kicks. The ref starts to come around. Charlotte superkicks Shayna. Shayna drops to the mat and Charlotte kicks her out of the ring. Charlotte sees the ref start to get up and turns around to go at Lacey. Lacey has the chair and jams it into her midsection twice. Charlotte is bent over in pain. Lacey hits the woman’s right knocking out Charlotte. Lacey kicks the chair out of the ring. The ref gets back into the ring and counts Charlotte out. The winner is Lacey Evans.

Renee: Charlotte got screwed. The horsewomen had no business here.

Paige: Renee they attacked both women and Lacey was able to capitalize and not Charlotte.

Renee: The Horsewomen need to be stopped.

Paige: Paul Heyman did warn Stephanie McMahon

In the back, we see Stephanie on the phone talking to someone and looks very concerned.

Stephanie: I understand. I understand. I don’t need your help. I can handle this.

Renee: Who was Stephanie McMahon talking to?

EPISODE # 1 April 10th

WRESTLEMANIA AFTERMATH

Stephanie McMahon opens the show declaring a new era in the WWE.  She announces the women’s weekly show will be called “No Limits”.  She announces the No Limits commentary team of Paige and Renee Young.

Stephanie says this is truly a historic day for the women’s division.  This is a dream come true for her and all the women in the locker room.  This is the last glass ceiling for this women’s revolution.  Stephanie tells the women in the locker room to step up their game and reach for the stars because there are NO LIMITS.  Stephanie announces that “Money In The Bank” is on May 19th.  There will be 8 women in that match and we will see qualifying matches leading up to that PPV.  She also promises a lot of excitement in the coming weeks.

Stephanie now recaps the women’s performances from Wrestlemania.  Congratulating Carmella on winning the Women’s Battle Royal and promising to give her a future title match for any belt she wants.  Stephanie then congratulates the IIconics on winning the tag team titles.  She says I hope the IIconics are ready to be fighting champions because she vows to make this tag team division the best it can be.  Then she says what a main event we had at Wrestlemania and The Man won both the Women’s Raw and Smackdown belts and she is required to defend both as we are not unifying the belts.

Ronda Rousey’s music hits.  Out to the ring comes Ronda.

Ronda: I got screwed at Wrestlemania.  My shoulders were never down and I want a rematch right now.

Stephanie: I feel bad for you but we don’t give automatic rematches anymore and you have to wait for your turn.

Ronda: I am the reason there is a women’s main event at Wrestlemania.  I am the reason there is an all woman’s weekly television show.

Now Ronda gets in Steph’s face and threatens to get physical with her.

Stephanie:  You work for me and you can’t treat me like that.

Ronda: I make your father enough money so give me what I want.  I am prepared to hijack this bitch until I get what I want.  Or should I break your arm?

Charlotte’s music hits and out she comes to the ring.

Charlotte: Stephanie, if Ronda was not pinned and if the match gets replayed then the queen should be in it too.  Ronda stop crying because you put yourself in that position.  Unlike you, I wasn’t pinned.  Ronda, it’s time you left.  You have been here too long.  I don’t agree with Becky about anything but you do cry every time you lose.

Ronda: Fuck off Charlotte

Becky’s music hits and she comes out to the ring.

Becky: Both of you are crybabies that can’t face the fact that I am “The Man.”  Charlotte we are not the same.  Go back to NXT and win that belt so I can take that title from you too.  No one is going to take these titles from me.  Stephanie, I beat them both at Wrestlemania and I will beat them both again tonight.  The Man demands Ric’s daughter and Ronnie tonight.

Charlotte: Ronda you had your debut match on Wrestlemania while everyone else had to work hard to earn their spot.

Becky: Hey Ric’s Daughter you were handed everything just like Ronnie the little weirdo.  The Man had to fight for everything.

Ronda: This is why UFC is better than this fake ass WWE.  Stephanie get your bitches in order.  I am not one of your sheep.  If I have to break bones then I will.  Maybe I will start with you, Stephanie.

Stephanie has a concerned look on her face.

Stephanie: Is this what you want?  Does the WWE Universe want to see a rematch of the Wrestlemania Main Event?  Well, that’s not going to happen.  Instead, it will be Charlotte Flair vs Ronda Rousey tonight.  The winner will face Becky Lynch.

We see the IIconics walking around the back with their belts holding hands.

Backstage interview.  Charly Caruso with Carmella.  Carmella says she has unfinished business with Zelina Vega and the stakes are a spot in the MITB match.  Carmella declares herself the Queen of the MITB Match.  She also says thank you Stephanie for giving me a title shot and my eyes will be on the main event later tonight.

MONEY IN THE BANK QUALIFYING MATCH

Asuka vs Lana.  A few minutes into the match Lana has the upper hand.  Asuka turns the tide as she is just a better wrestler. Good showing by Lana.  Asuka is too tough and gets the win.  Asuka is in the MITB match

Charly backstage with Zelina Vega and she has a few words about her upcoming match with Carmella.  She calls Carmella a cornball and says tonight is payback.  She is tired of Carmella blindsiding her and now she has to face me head on.

We see Riott Squad walking toward the ring for a tag team match.

Riott Squad comes out to the ring for a tag team match against a mystery team.  We hear the music for Feel The Glow.  Outcomes Naomi.  Naomi stands outside the ring and looks to the back and we hear Ember Moon’s music.  Here comes Ember Moon to team up with Naomi.  The crowd pops for this new tag team.  This is Ember’s first head to head match since her injury.  The match starts with Naomi and Ember dominating. As the match continues now with Sarah Logan and Liv Morgan wearing down Naomi.  Naomi can’t get away to make the tag.  Ruby interferes from the outside pulling Naomi’s legs so she can’t get to her corner.  Naomi reverses a whip into the ropes and Ruby pulls down the top rope causing Liv to fall outside the ring.  Naomi makes the tag to Ember.  Ember comes in hot and gets the upper hand.  Naomi recovers and clears the ring for Ember to get the pin over Liv Morgan.  Winners are Naomi and Ember.

Stephanie is on the phone laughing with someone.  There is a knock on the door and Steph says what do you want.  Stephanie gets angry.

Nia Jax with Tamina vs Beth Phoenix with Nattie

This has been brewing with Beth and Nia for a while now.  Beth starts to batter Nia.  Nia fights back.  Both are landing punches on each other.  Beth tries to go for the Glam Slam when Tamina comes into the ring and hits Beth.  DQ win for Beth.  Nattie hits the ring and goes after Tamina.  Tamina fights her off and knocks her out of the ring and turns back to Beth.  Nattie brings a chair into the ring as Nia and Tamina double team Beth.  Nattie takes out Tamina with a chair and puts her in the sharpshooter.  Beth works over Nia’s knee with a chair.  Nia is injured.

We see Charlotte leave Stephanie’s office.

A Moment Of Bliss Starts and Alexa has an announcement to make concerning Money In The Bank qualifying matches.  She says next week there will be 2 qualifying matches.  One has Nikki Cross Vs. Me Alexa Bliss.  Then she says Dana Brooke will be facing her guest “The Sassy Southern Belle” Lacey Evans.  Lacy comes out.  Alexa talks about her not wrestling and makes fun of her being a marine.  Lacey is not saying anything. Alexa asks her why she keeps walking out every week to do nothing.  Lacey is still not talking.  Outcomes Dana Brooke who is facing Alexa next week in a MITB qualifying match.  Dana talks about seizing the moment and how this is her life and she bleeds this business.  Alexa yawns and instigates Dana and makes fun of her this is my life speech and calls her a loser.  Then looks at Lacey and says I don’t do catwalks I win matches and win titles.  She drops the mic in the ring and leaves.  Lacey kicks Dana in the face and stares at her before leaving the ring.

Backstage Charly interviews the IIconics who say they will be fighting champions.  Sonya and Mandy challenge them to a title match.  Asuka was walking by and says that’s a good idea.  The IIconics say yes.

Zelina Vega is in the ring for her match with Carmella

Carmella hits the ring and they both go at each other rolling around the mat and punching each other.  We know there is bad blood between these two.  The ref grabs Carmella and Zelina kicks her in the gut.  Zelina has the upper hand but Carmella fights back and takes control.  This turns into a tough match.  Zelina goes for a cover grabbing the tights but Carmella reverses and beats Zelina in the second MITB Qualifying match.  Zelina attacks Carmella after the match.  Carmella stares at Zelina as she is walking towards the back.

Ronda is shown in the back prepping for her match

Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville vs The IIconics for the tag team titles.  IIconics grab the mic and taunt Mandy and Sonya.  They make fun of the name Fire and Desire.  Finally, the match starts.

The match starts as we go to commercial

Match continues.  Both teams really work well together.  Sonya’s power is too much for the IIconics early on.  We see a video of Asuka watching in the back.  IIconics come back and take control.  The match comes to an end with the IIconics winning as Billie Kaye is using the ropes for leverage pinning Mandy.

Stephanie is on the phone in her office when Asuka walks in and she looks surprised.  Asuka hands her a note and Stephanie looks at her and smiles and says make it happen.

Stephanie comes out for the main event and sits by the commentary table.  First Ronda comes out then Charlotte.  As they get ready to start the match Stephanie grabs the microphone and says I am forced by the Board Of Directors to notify you of the stipulations of this match.  The opening bell has not yet rung.  She says this is now a No Disqualification match and the loser of this match will not be allowed to have a championship match for one year.  Ronda goes over to the ropes near Stephanie to yell at her.

Charlotte hits her from behind knocking her out of the ring.  The bell has not rung yet and Charlotte starts to pummel Ronda outside the ring.  Charlotte goes under the ring and grabs a kendo stick and starts hitting Ronda.  Charlotte then pulls a table out from under the ring.  As Ronda tries to fight back the crowd starts to rumble.  Now “The Man” Becky Lynch comes out.  She starts to pummel Ronda.  A table is put into the ring.  Charlotte looks at Steph with anger and says you made us do this.  Steph tries to get into the ring but is stared down and she stops and is looking scared.  Becky and Charlotte double powerbomb Ronda through a table. Charlotte puts Ronda in the figure 8 as Becky puts her in the disarmer.  Ronda is unconscious.  Charlotte and Becky get up and walk towards Stephanie and she looks very scared then smiles.  Stephanie then walks into the ring.  Ronda is destroyed.  All 3 stand in front of Ronda’s prone body as the show ends.

Fastlane Review

FASTLANE

Well this was unexpected.  The card was vanilla and predictable.  I predicted every announced match correctly except for the New Day vs Nakamura and Rusev.  But the unexpected part was all the craziness before the PPV started and during it.  A lot of seeds were thrown around with Wrestlemania just 4 weeks away now.  The card has become clearer now.  Some of the matches were just ok tonight but you have to like what the WWE creative is doing now.  They made a vanilla PPV exciting.

So we start on the kickoff show with Carmella and Zelina Vega arguing over who should get the next US title shot.  These two are destined to have a good match maybe this week on Smackdown Live.  As much as I love my wife Carmella I don’t think this leads to a one on one match at Wrestlemania.  Maybe a mixed tag team match at Wrestlemania?  Depending on how many matches are on the card.  So anyway the match between Rey Mysterio and Andrade has now been moved to the actual PPV and has become a fatal 4 way for Samoa Joe’s US title with R Truth in the match.  More camera time for my Carmella.

We then see the New Day and find out that the McMahons requested to see Kofi Kingston to talk about the WWE title.  New Day beats Nakamura and Rusev.  Ok match.  Not expecting anything big.  Please get Nakamura and Rusev involved in something big.  Nakamura was super over before they turned him heel.  If anyone saw Total Divas, they know the kind of personality Rusev has.

Now the main show starts.  This show really flowed nicely.  I wonder how it played out in the arena.

The first match was the Uso’s defending the tag team titles against Shane O’Mac and the Miz.  The breakup of Shane and Miz has been inevitable as they are setting up their Wrestlemania match.  So when Shane attacked Miz in front of his father after they lost to the Uso’s this was no surprise to me.  I wish they made the Miz the heel because he is so good as a heel but still a good spot.  The match was good too.  A few big spots especially the mid-air collision between Shane and one of the Uso’s.  Miz got a lot of pops from his home town crowd.  Shane taunting Miz’s dad was a good touch.

Next we have a Wrestlemania Promo. Drew/Corbin/Lashley quick promo for their match.

Elias is in the house and he was not interrupted.  This is a theme that played out through the night as Elias came out a few times to sing a song killing Cleveland.  I love Elias.  Hopefully he will walk the streets of Manhattan during the Wrestlemania week.

Another promo for HHH and Batista for Monday Night Raw.

Again rehashing the New Day from the kickoff show

Next up we have Asuka defending the title against God’s Greatest Creation Mandy Rose. Corey as usual acts like a 15-year old boy in heat whenever Mandy comes out.  I never thought Mandy was going to win this match.  The match was ok.  Asuka is a really good wrestler and she deserves to be in a good program.  Perhaps Asuka is not 100 percent after getting hurt at a house show on Monday night so the WWE did not want her to do too much. The ending really didn’t come off well as Mandy lost balance because of stepping on the ring apron as Sonya Deville went under the ring looking for a kendo stick.  We get teased of a Mandy and Sonya spat so we will see where this one goes.

Next we see back stage where the New Day find Kofi standing out of the McMahon’s office.  He never went in and said he has been waiting for someone to get him.  New Day walk into the office and are like what’s up making their man Kofi wait.  Vince says I was waiting for him.  Vince says the WWE title match is now a triple threat match.  The crowd pops as Vince says the match is happening right now.  New Day is barred from ringside.  I thought it was kind of odd to have this match so early in the card.  Kofi comes out first.  It is announced there is a change to this match and gets screwed as he is facing the Bar in a handicap match.  The championship match is announced for later on in the night.  Let’s further this Kofi getting screwed underdog role as the Bar squash him big time.  But the crowd was popping for Kofi big time.

Back stage with the Boss Hug Connection.  Blah still no buildup for this match.

Here comes Elias again to sign un interrupted.  Now he is again attacking Cleveland and Kofi and the Miz again.  Talks Steelers are better than the Browns.  Loving this Elias angle.

We review the Shane and Miz breakup again.  Kayla asks Shane for an explanation and gets blown off.

Next we have the triple threat tag team match for the belts.  This was a better match than I expected.  Ricochet is so incredible to watch and he has great chemistry with Aleister Black.  The Revival are a good tag team they are just getting booked wrong.  Gable and Roode also showed they are a good tag team.  A lot of good spots in this match.  The Revival retain by pinning Gable.  Ricochet and Black clear the ring at the end.  I am not sure what show they are going to eventually land on but these are three of the best tag teams in the WWE.

Let’s see Charlotte back stage getting her robe on and Becky limping out of the trainer’s room.

Next up is my favorite time of the card.  The fatal 4-way match for the US title.  R Truth and Carmella come out first to get the crowd running.  Mella is rapping now and she is super over with the crowd.  Mella is so beautiful and I am happy she is getting pushed.  This was such a great match.  Big spots all over the place.  Andrade is a future star.  R Truth was always under rated as a performer.  Mysterio still got it and Samoa Joe deserves to be champ through Wrestlemania.  They actually out performed their match from Smackdown Live this past week.  For a big guy Joeis really athletic.  Throw in Carmella lighting up Zelina Vega setting up something between them down the road and this match was well put together.  Joe retains.

Boss Hug Connection vs Nia Jax and Tamina.  Beth Phoenix is announced as the commentator for this match.  I didn’t think much about it because she has been doing this the last couple of months.  Nia and Tamina together are the biggest forces in the woman’s division.  The match was ok.  There is not much you can do when you are wrestling someone who is larger than you as Nia and Tamina are.  Bayley dominated this match and they really made Nia and Tamina seem mortal here.  Bayley rolls up Nia for the win.  After the match Nia and Tamina lay waste to the Boss-Hug Connection.  You almost knew that Beth Phoenix was going to say something.  Beth hits Tamina.  Nia lays out Beth.  Here comes Nattie.  She gets laid out.  I am kind of liking what they are doing with Nia and Tamina.  They eventually will be tag team champs.  Now we will see what happens with Beth Phoenix.  Maybe a Wrestlemania match?  It’s really great to see a lot of women’s angles being created.  Did someone say weekly female show?

It’s time for the Triple Threat match with Daniel Bryan vs Kevin Owens and Kofi Kingston.  We see the history of this before the match.  WWE is really selling this 3-way match.  KO comes out first.  Then Daniel.  As we are waiting for Kofi we get Mustafa Ali?  No Kofi.  The crowd is booing and chanting for Kofi.  WWE rolled the dice that this match would deliver without Kofi and boy did it deliver.  Kofi will get his match at Wrestlemania.  Why waste it now.  Mustafa really put himself on the map with this match.  The boys are really trying to outdo each other.  KO had several big spots as did Daniel.  The match was great and the crowd eventually got behind it.  Daniel pins Ali after Rowan saved him from a certain pin fall.  I am anxious to see where they go from here with KO.  Also no Sami Zayn, Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper who came back during the weekend at a house show.

Two matches left and they are very predictable.

We get a Brock Lesnar and Seth Rollins promo.

We get a review of the Becky Lynch/Charlotte/Ronda story.

Now it’s time for Charlotte vs Becky Lynch.  There isn’t anything else they can do with this angle right now except to do what we or most of us have known for a while now and that is to make it officially a triple threat match.  The ending was really bogus though.  I think we all expected to see Ronda interfere.  But she comes in and hits Becky once causing a DQ and that’s it as Becky laughed.  I would have rather seen Ronda destroy both Becky or Charlotte or have Charlotte attack Becky after Ronda hit her causing the DQ.  Please do us a favor and not have any of these three in a match before Wrestlemania especially Ronda vs Becky.

Now we have yet another Elias concert.  Brilliant.  And what would a WWE TV event be without another cat walk by Lacey Evans.  Please get in the ring already.  Then out of nowhere we see Randy Orton RKO Elias.  Then even more out of nowhere we see AJ Styles give Orton a Phenomenal forearm cementing their Wrestlemania match.

Now for the main event of the Shield vs Drew McIntyre, Lashley and Baron Corbin.

We get a video package of the last two weeks of the Shield.  Now they keep talking about Dean Ambrose not re-signing his contract.  As far as I can remember I have never seen the WWE ever do this.  But they keep talking about it so it makes me think that Dean is not going anywhere.  And maybe the significant changes made in creative is making a big difference.

This match was crazy.  It was all over the place all over the arena.  Some big spots by Dean and Seth.  The ending was all too predictable.  The Shield did all their spots.  It did look like a sendoff. I just don’t think Dean is leaving.

So overall I will rank this PPV as an A Minus.  Only because I didn’t like the ending of the Flair/Becky match and the Asuka/Mandy match.  But I am glad the women who had three matches plus My Khaleesi Carmella and Zelina maybe building a storyline of their own.  Not to mention Beth Phoenix who might have another match in her.

Wrestling Blog 3-7

Wrestling Blog 3-7

After last week’s Raw which was the best Raw, we have seen in a while there was no way this week could ever top it.  I mean just with the return of Roman Reigns alone was a lot to overcome.  Throw in the Batista/Flair/HHH angle and Ronda’s promo there was a lot going on.  So, what do we have to talk about this week?  I am going to save the best for last which is the absolute madness involving the Raw Women’s Championship.

The show starts with Roman talking about wanting one thing and he asks Seth Rollins to join him in the ring.  Who didn’t think Roman wanted to get into that title match with Seth and Brock Lesnar?  I mean after all Roman never actually lost the belt.  As un fair as it is for Roman this is Seth’s time.  So, I was glad this is not what Roman wanted.  By the way I am not completely sold on Seth winning the belt at Wrestlemania.  There is no way Vince wants Brock going to a rival company.  Instead Roman wants the yawn band back together.  Who really cares anymore?   Seriously.  These things are better off as surprises like when they re united on the Raw after Summer Slam.  I was in the building for that and it was electric.  Now it looks like it’s forced and tired.  Even if this is an attempt to keep Dean Ambrose in the company which is a good idea, I am still over it.  Who the hell knows what to think about Ambrose anymore?  Is he leaving or staying?  Is this an angle?  I am so tired of the Shield and on that point I am tired of Corbin, Drew McIntyre and Lashley.  Drew needs to be in the main event already.  Elias attacks Dean as he was walking to the ring to address the shield re union.  Elias is so under used.  I am going to petition the WWE to organize a Walk With Elias NYC night during Wrestlemania week.  Imagine walking through the streets of Manhattan with Elias.  There is no shortage of bars that he can play at.  But overall just an average segment.

Next, we have a throw away 6-man tag team match.  Kurt Angle needs to retire already.  Sorry Kurt.  You were great but your time is up.  Give some TV time to EC3 and for god’s sake let him talk.  Finn Balor has the Intercontinental title, so he is relevant but get him out of this angle.  And Braun Stroman who just about killed Lio Rush I am not sure what to do with him anymore.  Bad match with no story behind it only to be fed to the shield at Fastlane.

Nattie vs Ruby RIott is just a waste of two talented wrestlers.  It’s okay to have several story lines for the women at one time.  It’s like they want to keep pushing the Ronda/Becky/Flair angle to the moon which I get but you have other talent that needs story lines.  Can you say a dedicated show just for the women?  After the match which Nattie wins we have another ridiculous cat walk by Lacey Evans.  This was old and tired two weeks ago.  Just get her in the ring already.  It’s like WWE does not want you to forget about her.  Then why bring her up from NXT if she is not going to wrestle.  If she is rumored to be getting a huge push and will be in an angle with Nattie then get it started now.  Nattie can’t be the sidekick to Ronda for the next month.  One Ronda and that angle does not need it and two Nattie is too good to be a sidekick

Now for one of things I wanted to see this week on either show.  I have to say Batista cut a good promo.  He clearly is the heel and he made sure it would stay that way.  Then HHH started to talk about the real man Richard Flehr.  I can see where this is going.  WWE is trying to make this into a real-life angle.  If that is the direction WWE wants to take this then so be it.  I am not so sure I agree with it.  Maybe they felt more juice is needed.  HHH was golden talking about attending a couple of Natch’s weddings.  Say what you want about HHH the man can still cut a mean promo.  I am looking forward to the one on one next week.  Hopefully they get some freedom when they are in the ring on the mic.  Dave is Hollywood now but what’s up with that blue earring in his nose.  Could be a very good segment.

Oh, Heavy Machinery runs the gauntlet on the minor leagues of the Raw Tag Team division.  By the way has anyone seen Otis’ Instagram stories.  Dude is always eating un healthy stuff.

The shield re-forms after Elias beats Dean.  Ho hum.  It would have been better if it was a surprise.  Now we have a 6-man tag team match at Fast Lane.  I get it.  Roman came back earlier than expected.  Now we have to fast track him into something for Wrestlemania.  So, I expect him to be in tag team matches for the first few weeks to get some stamina back.  Thus, the reason for the Shield re-forming.

Michael Che and Colin Jost with several promos through out the night.  Who really cares about this?  Seriously what a waste of air time and yet we keep seeing EC3 staring into the mirror with a spray bottle in his hand.  SMH

Tamina beats Sasha.  I was kind of surprised by this, but I guess you need to get some heat for Fastlane.  Terrible build for this match.  I haven’t seen Tamina win too many matches on her own.  This title deserves a better story line than what we got so far.  Horsemen always have gold.

Ricochet and Aleister Black win a match by DQ.  The former champs Robert Roode and Chad Gable interfere.  This sets up a triple threat tag team title match at Fastlane.  Ricochet and Black are impressive talents and are getting super pushed right now.

I have to say I am already so tired of this whole Ronda/Becky/Flair story.  Is anybody else?  Make no mistake this will be a hell of a match and will close out Wrestlemania but my god the drama has to end.  Since Ronda got into the WWE everyone knew it would be her and Flair closing out Wrestlemania.  The problem is Becky got super over.  WWE had no choice but to get her in this match.  But I have a serious problem with how this is going about and hopefully after Fastlane we can finally just stop the madness.  But WWE writers know best right, I guess.  I think my biggest issue is that this angle started before Survivor Series.  Your talking about over 4 months of build up.  And it never ceases to amaze me that some fans thought this was not going to be a triple threat match which is the right call.  So much can spawn off the outcome of this match including Ronda still being over if Becky and Flair team up to take her out of the match, so she does not get pinned.

Let’s start with Ronda.  I have said this for weeks now.  She can’t cut a promo the right way.  I will say this she is getting better.  But the last two weeks should have been epic promo moments and she for some reason either rushes or can’t get the words out.  But one thing is for sure.  Ronda brings the heat and the intensity.  I watched both the Divas and Bella shows for some clues on how she was received by the other women on the roster.  She got plenty of respect and the women knew they would have to up their game to get close to her level.  Besides she knew a lot of the girls anyway.  She is legit close to Nattie and Charlotte.

Ronda should have been a heel from day one, but I do understand why she wasn’t.  What she said in her promo was 100 percent true.  Everything she was brought in to do she has delivered.  Stephanie changed the match at Fastlane and gave the title back to Ronda.  I know it’s part of the storyline but in this story Ronda demanded something and was granted.  And yes, the McMahon’s have made a lot of money because of Ronda.  Brock brings that big fight atmosphere every time he wrestles which is not often.  Give Ronda credit.  She is there every week and she does put over the women.  But she does not need this job and she has been respectful.  I think she made a quote that WWE gives you enough money to live a nice lifestyle but not enough that you can quit.  Ronda has made millions prior to the WWE and can pretty much do anything she wants and make real good money.  I love the aggression she showed and let’s face it in a real fight she can legit hurt these women.

As for Becky.  I have thought long and hard about this and I came up to the conclusion that I really don’t like “The Man” character.  Becky got hot and WWE made her into the second coming of Stone Cold Austin.  There will only be one Stone Cold and it does not matter to me that Austin has endorsed her.  Her promos are not that good in my opinion and her voice annoys me.  She is not on the level of Ronda and Flair.  But she got hot and she might walk away with the strap at Wrestlemania because of it.

Charlotte Flair is the best all around player in the game.  At least for the women’s roster.  While I hate the Stone Cold/Becky creation I feel it is different when you are starting to channel your father’s legendary gimmick.  After all it is genetic.  Ric was an amazing heel and was so on point on the mic.  Charlotte’s mic work is getting to that level.  Her promos have been so good.  Did you have any doubts?  What I can’t understand is how many times is a one-legged Becky going to get the upper hand on Flair?  There is nothing the WWE can ever do to make me believe Becky is on that level.

Smackdown overall was a good show.  When a 2 hour show flows quickly you know it was a good show.

Daniel Bryan furthers his character as this heel environmentalist.  Even though he is a heel character he is still a tremendous talent.  Kevin Owens is also a tremendous talent.  I like Owens as a heel better.  But his mic work is also good.  I would rather see in this match Daniel as the face and Owens as a heel.  It was a good promo for both trying to generate some heat for the Fastlane match.  Owens is announced in a match with Rowan later that night.

Miz pins Jey Uso.  I have said it before that I love the Miz character.  He is better as a heel and he needs to change to a heel when he fights Shane.  This was a filler match as we are all expecting the inevitable breakup of Shane and Miz and their match at Wrestlemania.  Is it me or does Shane look like he is not doing well?  He looked kind of out of breath when he was giving his promo.

The best match of the night was the 4-way United States championship match.  Any time Carmella is on TV it makes the night magical.  I would love to see her wrestle more.  The match had R Truth defending against Samoa Joe, Mysterio and Andrade.  Very good match.  Good pace.  Good spots all over.  Zelina Vega got involved and Mella booted her out.  Andrade is a real talent.  R Truth is underrated both in the ring and on the mic.  But I am glad to see Samoa Joe finally win a strap on the main roster.  I wasn’t too keen on bringing Mysterio back.  Even though I would love to see others get TV time Rey still has it.

Ricochet and Aleister Black win yet again this time against the Bar.   Rusev and Nakamura attacked the after the bell.  The Hardy’s come in for the save.  Ricochet and Black are doing both Raw and Smackdown and have a Raw tag team title match at Fastlane, so I am not sure where they are going with this.  Maybe there will be some kind of big tag team match at Wrestlemania if they don’t win the straps on Sunday

Mandy Rose squashes Naomi.  God’s greatest creation comes out and Corey as usual damn near busts in his pants.  I don’t know why Naomi is getting buried.  But ever since her husband was arrested, she seems to be getting the fall out.  Hopefully it’s because Asuka got injured the night before and was held out of wrestling to preserve the Fastlane match.  With Sonia DeVille interfering and Asuka laying out both we can maybe see Naomi in Asuka’s corner at Fastlane.

KO vs Rowan was just to further the story line.  Daniel on commentary making fun of KO was funny.  I liked the heat when KO just attacked him.  When it became 2 on 1 Mustafa Ali saved KO who had admitted earlier in the night, he has no friends in the WWE.  Very interesting.  But the crowd was calling for Sami Zayn.  I do expect a run in during the match at Fastlane

I already covered the Charlotte and Becky angle.  Loved that Flair attacked her bad leg.  I can’t understand why a one-legged Becky continues to beat down Charlotte.  Whatever.  I can’t talk about this angle anymore even though it’s the hottest angle WWE has going on right now.

NOTES

How does Dana Warrior get a job in creative?  She seems to get whatever she wants.  I guess the Ultimate Warrior had pictures Vince or something.  I am all for getting the woman’s perspective but jeez.  Hey WWE I am a life long fan.  Can you hire me?

Has anyone else noticed that WWE has gotten a but edgier in the last few weeks.  That’s what happens when there is competition.

Do we really need to see John Cena in a Wrestlemania match?  He has turned into what he despised about the Rock.

I watched the Wrestlemania 36 press conference today.  It’s clear that Roman and Charlotte are the faces of the company and neither one has a strap.

Is it me or does Heavy Machinery kind of remind you of a modern day Bushwhackers?  Hey before you laugh the WWE never saw the Bushwhackers when they were the Sheepherders and were very vicious.

Are we ready for an all-women’s weekly show?  Too much female talent is being wasted.  But the women closed both shows this week and could close out Fastlane too.

Stay tuned for my Fastlane Predictions and a look at the wrestlemania card as it fills up.

WWE Women’s Division: The Last Glass Ceiling To Break

Why were they ever called WWE Divas?  Just that word seems not to fit someone who is a professional wrestler.  This was one of the reasons why the women could not get over.  Among many more reasons we don’t have to mention.  So when Stephanie McMahon announced that the divas were now known as WWE Superstars that signaled the dawn of a new era.  This is not to take anything away from those women who were active during that period.  They did lay the tracks down for this.

Stephanie and Triple H have done a great job ushering in this new wave of female talent into the WWE Universe.  You can see it whenever the next glass ceiling gets broken.  You can see it on the Empowered documentary.  You can see it on Total Divas and Total Bellas on the E Channel.  These women are making history all the time with every single first time event.

I think soon it will be time for yet one more first for the Women’s Revolution in the WWE.  Despite the return of Roman Reigns I do expect to see the Ronda/Charlotte/Flair 3 way match as the last match of the evening at Wrestlemania ensuring yet another first for this Women’s Division.  So in the last 3 years this women’s revolution has had the following firsts:

  1. Hell In A Cell Match
  2. Money In The Bank Ladder Match
  3. Royal Rumble Match
  4. Wrestlemania Battle Royal Match(which was the unprecedented 4th woman’s match at the PPV)
  5. All Women’s PPV

So what’s left to accomplish.  After closing Wrestlemania this year there is only one logical next step.  I want to see a weekly 2-hour show just for the women of the WWE.

I started watching wrestling in the early 80’s.  Back then we hardly saw females wrestling.  In fact, I remember the first time I saw women actually wrestling and it was when the Rock N Wrestling era began when Cyndi Lauper got involved in an angle with Captain Lou Albano which ultimately led to a match at Wrestlemania.  Boy Vince was smart to pair this together back then to market his brand.  Also 1985 had the Original Screw job when Wendi Richter lost to a masked Fabulous Moolah.  Yes, Vince was screwing the talent back then too.  But let’s not go down memory lane.

The time is now to see these ladies finally get their own TV show.  WWE has the perfect angle to get it started with.  Let’s ring in a new era at WWE with the Horsewoman finally forming and creating their own Women’s 2-hour show.  With the Fox contract starting this year there is plenty of opportunities to get this show rolling.  What better way to start it with then the Horsewomen angle?

We have seen Bayley, Becky and Sasha flash the infamous 4 finger salute made popular by the Four Horseman. I have been calling for this to get going for a few months now.  Imagine during the main event of Wrestlemania we see this get formed.  Or maybe Ronda’s crew attacks Charlotte and Becky which would be the way to unite them to form the Horsewomen.    That is all this division really needs.  A true faction headlined by the daughter of one of the original 4 Horseman.

By the women getting their own show it solves a lot of problems and breaks down that one last glass ceiling left for the women.  These women have risen to and surpassed every challenge put in their way.  They continue to over deliver in every big moment and every big opportunity they are given.  Let this be a life lesson.  All you need is a chance.  All these women needed was a chance to show off their talents and showcase themselves and the company.  They have delivered.

What is the biggest problem right now on Raw and Smackdown Live?  There is certainly more than one problem but the lack of time to get every superstar over on TV is the biggest one.  We have the Smackdown’s Women Champion who has wrestled on TV just once in the last 3 weeks.  This week on Smackdown Live there wasn’t a women’s match at all.  Just the women appearing as managers in the men’s matches.  Raw had 2 women’s matches during a 3-hour show.  One female wrestler just walks up and down the ramp.  Take the women off both shows and you are freeing up about 40-60 minutes of airtime to get more of the men’s talent on TV.  The Miz said it best.  The women used to get 2 minutes to tell a story and get over.  That is not enough time.  A lot of talented women are not getting seen at all.

I don’t know how any of the other fans feel about this but the women are killing it and are out performing the men.  The women’s division shows more raw emotion during their angles than the guys do with some obvious exceptions.  The reaction and joy to not only winning big matches but just to deliver every time out is something the men seem to have forgotten.  The ladies just want to show they can wrestle and put out the best show possible.

It’s a combination of the talent and effort shown during the matches and the connections the fans are making watching the E shows.  The fans feel like they know the women.  We can see you during a less than glamourous moment when your guard is down and all your emotions and tears and fears are coming out.  In some cases, the problems the women have are very similar to the problems men have.  I am going to shout out some of you ladies now and I am sorry I won’t be able to get to you all.  But seeing and hearing about all of the trials and tribulations that get you down I just want to put my arm around you and let you cry on my shoulders.  I really can’t believe I am about to write this.  I talk like I know all of you.  Today is my mother’s 72nd birthday and she is truly the glue that holds the family together as most women are.  Maybe I am feeling a little emotional and want to see you ladies get your due.  Or maybe because I know that no one reads this and certainly not any of you ladies in this women’s division.

My Princess of Staten Island Carmella.  In case any of you need confirmation.  As an Italian man from Brooklyn I can confirm she is that character.  So much that I was shocked to learn she is not from Staten Island.  I know this is one of the reasons why the Princess absolutely captured my heart.  I know you love dogs.  My Milo would capture your heart.

The Bella Twins.  You have grown on me watching the reality shows.  Brie you will forever be golden for what you did for Daniel Bryan who just happens to be a great guy.  Nikki as someone who is divorced I can relate to what you were going through.  Divorce or breaking up like you did with Cena I say what’s the difference.  Live your life and do you.  Don’t let anyone tell you any different.

Natty you are the den mother.  The protector of the realm.  You are the OB1 Kenobi.  There is a reason why all the girls go to you for advice.

Nia Jax as a big guy I understand how you feel and loved your honesty.  And you are beautiful inside and out.

Lana.  When I first saw you I immediately said I guess they are using a Rocky angle with Rusev being Drago and you obviously his wife.  You have come so far and you are driven.  Don’t be afraid of failure.

Ronda is as much the face of the company as Roman Reigns or John Cena is.  Or even Stephanie.

Charlotte carries the burden of being the daughter of the GOAT Ric Flair.  And she constantly delivers.

I can go on and on about this women’s division.  But the point is a lot of women do relate to you when you talk about your life problems.  Don’t be fooled a lot of men can relate too.  Do you think men actually relate to guys like John Cena?  I know as a man I don’t.  I see it in the reality shows how you women all pull for each other.  Not everyone is on the reality shows but social media captures the best of us and the worst of us.  All of you women collectively want each other to succeed.  I really think all of you ladies deep down inside think of each other as friends.

So as we are in a time and place where women are constantly proving they can step up and deliver.  The WWE needs to complete this women’s revolution with their own 2-hour weekly TV show.  Give them the chance to deliver and I know they won’t let you down.

Wrestlemania is in my hometown this year and maybe I will run into some of you ladies out and about in NYC.

RAW AND SMACKDOWN REVIEWS

Let’s see was there anything different about Raw and Smackdown Live this week?  Um I don’t know maybe.  The big story is did Triple H and his father in law Vince McMahon fight over the NXT call ups?  That’s all the buzz.  But since the McMahon family made their speech about change they have introduced 10 new NXT superstars.  The first 6 have made very small implications.  All except for Lars Anderson have actually competed in a match.  Lars has not been seen anywhere in at least a month.  EC3 is not allowed to talk yet.  Lacey Evans just does cat walks.  Tucker and Otis got their names shortened and have cut some pretty funny promos.  Nikki Cross has actually wrestled in some big matches.  Both the ladies were in the Women’s Royal Rumble match.  So why did the WWE bring up 4 of their top stars from NXT to not only compete on both Raw and Smackdown Live but win all their matches.   Tomaso Ciampo, Johnny Gargano, Ricochet and Allestier Black all shined with great matrches.

The Louisiana crowd was not as over as we all would have hoped they would be.  This is even after Triple H giving a scouting report on each and Michael Cole giving more during their video promos.  All 4 are top talents.  But all 4 returned to NXT on Wednesday so was this a one time thing or do we expect these 4 to be mainstays on the main roster?  Well now that Ciampo and Gargano will be re kindling their feud on NXT maybe they will have a NXT Takeover match and come up permanently after Wrestlemania.

But the real problem is not the lack of talent.  It’s the lack of opportunity for all of this talent.  The shows are crowded.  How do you get all this talent enough time to develop into meaningful story lines?  The 4 new guys had 3 matches on Raw and 3 matches on Smackdown Live.  Throw in the useless Braun/Corbin match, another Heyman/Rollins promo(get used to that), Ruby Riott getting another title match and Elias getting interrupted again, Lacey doing a catwalk,  a Dean Ambrose squash match and a funny promo with Seth what was left.  I expected a better promo with the new female tag team champs.  Ryder and Hawkins vs Lucha House Party.  Outside of the new guys debuting and the announcement of DX with Chyna going into the hall of fame(And I will be there) there wasn’t anything else of substance.

Smackdown Live in my opinion is the better show right now.  Even with the whole Charlotte/Becky angle switching to Raw.    There was 5 matches but all were good.  Three of the matches were NXTer’s.  Mandy Rose beats Asuka which could be a set up for a Wrestlemania match.  All 6 participants of the Eimination Chamber match met up in a 6 man tag team match.  Kofi gets the pin and a title shot at Fastlane.  I also thought it was a good idea to not have Carmella on TV while this whole incident starts to die down which it will.  All the matches were good.  But Wrestlemania is fast approaching and we don’t have clear direction on most of the card.  This is something insiders say is very rare this close to Wrestlemania.

On a personal note I am glad to see that Roman Reigns is coming to Raw on Monday to update us on his recovery.  I was a never a big fan of his.  That’s because of the ridiculous push and attempts to jam him down our throats for 3 years.  This has nothing to do with that right now.  I do respect him and I cheer for his recovery and his efforts and bravery facing a disease that just seems to not go away.  Roman will be a true face for life for the kind of person he is.

I also am glad the Carmella/Corey Graves issue is behind us.  I don’t know what is going on at the house shows.  But if she is on live TV this week we will see what kind of crowd reaction she gets.  I don’t want to talk about this anymore cause it’s in my eyes a non -issue.  I just hope Carmella has distanced herself from him as this could be a career killer for her.  The last thing you want is people to see them together and keep getting reminders of what happened.

I have not been a fan of the Total Divas TV Show.  I don’t really have a good reason to not either.  In fact I only binge watched the last 2 seasons because I can’t get enough my princess Carmella.  Watching Big Cass get hurt reminds me that my brother took his MRI in Brooklyn because his boss and owner of the place is a good friend of Shane McMahon and he wanted it to be done quietly.  Carmella is amazing and watching that show I firmly believe that Corey Graves lied to her about how far along his divorce is.

Buy anyway.  I know parts of the show are scripted.  But the emotion are not.  I only saw seasons 7 and 8.  It got me hooked on wanting to watch the 9th season.  It got me to want to watch Total Bellas.  Aside from how beautiful the Bella Twins are.  I was not fans of them in the ring.  It’s not that they are bad wrestlers.  Nikki is certainly not.  It’s just that the women coming up from NXT are better.  They carried that banner for a while.  I have such a new found respect for the Bella Twins now.  They have really become the mentors or the den mothers for a lot of the women in the locker room.  Just to see how they are dealing with all the emotions of the other female wrestlers.  Brie and Daniel Bryan are so good together.  I really feel for Nikki after the breakup with John Cena.  I do applaud her and him for recognizing they wanted different things and calling off the marriage.  Cena is a weird dude.  It’s almost like he is robotic in his real life.  Kudos Nikki.  You deserve to get what you want and you will.  Separation and divorce is really hard.  It takes a while to get over and you need a lot of support.  But poor Nikki.  I feel for her.  But she is so beautiful and driven I know she will come out of this fine.  Brie.  Sweet Brie you will forever be golden for what you did for Daniel Bryan.

Additionaly major kudos to Nia Jax.  She just told the trust about her body and how hard it is for her to find someone let alone date.  For someone who plays a bully on screen she is a really sweet person.  Nia you have a pretty face.  I want you to be confident in everything you do out of the ring.  My Princess of Staten Island Carmella from Massachusetts.  I am from Brooklyn so I definitely understand that kind of woman and I love it.  Sweet and tough and driven.  Not to mention so very beautiful.  I would be your prince forever.  Lana.  There is a lot going on there.  Beautiful woman.  Very focused.  Maybe a bit too ambitious to be liked and get better in the ring.  But I think a complete open book.  Nattie is like the who is the person I am looking to describe her.  She has won titles before.  She is the steady old school woman who is very conservative but she really does not want to be.  Naomi is so down to earth.  I hope she has resolved her issues with Jon.  You really have to feel for Paige.  Great career even though it was cut short.  To have to deal with the other issues she has had as well as the injury is really not fair.  But she has pushed through.
