NFL Divisional Round Predictions

This is always described of the best weekend of the NFL season–The DIvisional Round.  The Great 8, the best of the league for this season and once gone you realize there are only 3 more games left in the season.  Last weekend all 4 underdogs covered the game with 2 winning outright and the other 2 had legitimate chances to win the game.  What will this weekend show.

Falcons Eagles

The Line: Falcons -3  41

To say the Eagles are getting no respect would be an under statement.  As the number 1 seed they are underdogs at home to the defending NFC champion Falcons.  Before we go crazy if Carson Wentz would be playing the line would be 3 the other way.  But Wentz is out and this could derail the Eagles once mighty super bowl chances.  The Falcons have not been the same team they were last year and perhaps they are turning it on at the right time.  I am not a believer in the Falcons especially in road playoff games despite what they did last week to the tight Los Angeles Rams.  I think the Eagles will play with a chip on their shoulders and if Foles does not make the critical mistake I think the Eagles win a very close game.  The Eagle D must come up big on Saturday.  Look for a 23-20 score.  Eagles and Over

Titans Pats

The Line: Pats -13.5  48

Haven’t we been here before.  The Patriots a heavy favorite with another off the field distraction to try to derail the Killer B’s Super Bowl train.  There is not much to write about this game.  I see no shot the Titans win this game the only question is will the Pats cover the game.  I am going with 30-13 Patriots.  Pats and Under

Saints Helmet Vikes

The Line Vikings – 5  46.5

This is the marquee game of the weekend.  Both can easily get to the Super Bowl.  The Vikings playing with a backup QB pretty much the whole season has relied on their great defense as Case Keenum has evolved into a dependable starting QB.  The Saints have the better offense and the Vikings have the better defense.  But this is not your typical Saints team.  Their offense is more balanced with two RB’s who can dominate the game.  Add in Drew Brees and the genius of Sean Payton and you have a very formidable offense.  The Saints are my pick to get to the Super Bowl and I am not backing off that.  I look for the Saints to run the ball and Brees to take his shots down the field when they become open.  I do think there could be more scoring in this game than most think.  I like the Saints winning this game 26 to 17.  Saints and Under.

Jags Steelers

The Line Steelers -7  41

And finally the grudge match game.  Jacksonville has a mean and nasty defense who already shut down the Steelers in Pittsburgh although that was very early in the season.  I don’t think the Steelers offense will be controlled like that again.  But Blake Bortles must play alot better then he did last week.  10 points will not be enough to secure a victory in Pittsburgh.  I am not a fan of Bortles but I do like the rest of the team.  Look for Pittsburgh to get an early lead and make the Jags and Bortles play catch up.  There is plenty of bulletin board material going around for this game.  It would be very hard for me to even think the Steelers will be looking ahead to the Pats.  I am taking the Steelers 24-10.  So Steelers and Under.
