MCGREVEY WONDERFUL IN SHUTOUT

Mike McGrevey pitched a 6 hit shutout as the Wonderboys defeated Wild Things 6-0 in the first game of a three game set.  McGrevey who also walked 4 batters was in complete control and you never felt Wild Things were going to break through.

Roy Hobbs cracked a two run HR in the bottom of the first inning to give McGrevey all he needed.  Wonderboys spread 13 hits around as eight of the nine batters had at least one hit.  In the second inning T Rex Pennebaker drove in Bo Gentry with the third run.  In the fifth inning Wonderboy added three more runs.  Crash Davis and Bobby Rayburn led off the inning with basehits.  Jaxk Elliott doubled home Crash.  Davis Birch had a RBI groundout and Tanner Boyle closed out the scoring with an RBI single.

With McGrevey in complete control that lead seemed insurmountable.  Tomorrow’s matchup is a classic with Rick Vaughn set to go against Billy Chapel.  Wonderboy mamager Pop Fisher had this to say after the game.  “That was huge today.  Even though we have Chapel pitching tomorrow it’s never easy to face Vaughn.  So getting a win was crucial today.”

“Vaughn is our money pitcher and he needs to step up and not let this become a losing streak.  He will be ready,” said Jake Taylor.
