Game Notes For Girl Power

Bobby Rayburn’s three-run HR off Tamina capped a four-run ninth inning as Wonderboy salvaged the final game of the series over a shocked Girl Power squad 6-5.

In what was a great pitching duel early on Girl Power lost a 5-2 lead in the ninth inning as Tamina imploded.  Sonya Deville was becoming the stopper with all of her 3 wins coming after Girl Power losses.  Steve Nebraska was also pitching great in his 3 starts.  So when there were runs scored by each team in the first inning the thought was that we are heading for one of those games.

Bobby Rayburn drove in Juan Primo in the top of the first inning.  Carmella drove in Mandy Rose with a double in the bottom of the first.  Then the pitching duel began with no runs scored until the bottom of the seventh inning.  Deville was brilliant during that stretch.  Nebraska tired in the seventh.  Girl Power using errors by Stan Ross and Rayburn to push across three runs.  Natalya’s RBI double and Carmella’s run-scoring single highlighted the inning.  Kit Keller replaced Nebraska with two outs and two runners on and allowed the run-scoring single to Carmella.

Roy Hobb’s leadoff solo HR in the top of the eighth inning cut the lead to 4-2.  Nia Jax drove in Sarah Logan with a ground out but just like they did all game long Girl Power left men in scoring position to end the inning.

We go to the ninth inning and Paige replaced Deville with her closer Tamina.  After striking out Dottie Henson to lead off the inning Tanner Boyle’s double provided a spark.  Primo struck out but Stan Ross drove her in with a double.  Paige then opted to intentional walk Hobbs.  That set the stage for Bobby Rayburn’s three-run HR.  Jim Bowers pitched a quick bottom of the ninth inning for the save.

Lou Brown went to his bullpen today and it appeared to be the wrong choice but he was not at the center after the game.  Everyone was waiting for Paige to discuss pitching Tamina for the third straight game and not sticking with Deville.

Here is Paige after the game.  “This loss took away from what we did this series and it shouldn’t.  The girls are down right now but we have battled all year long and today will be no different.  Tamina is my closer and I trust her.  Case closed.”  Carmella had this to say.  “Man that was tough.  We had the series won.  Losing games like this are really tough to handle.  But we can’t wait for the next series.”

Next up for Girl Power is a series at Brotherhood.  For Wonderboy they visit the Outlaws

Sarah Logan clubbed two HR’s and Billie Kay was impressive in relief as Girl Power defeated Wonderboy 6-4 winning their fourth straight game.

Girl Power starting pitcher Bayley gutted through five innings giving up four runs two of them earned.  Both teams had issues with defense as there were five errors in total.  In the top of the first inning, Mandy Rose’s error set up Wonderboy to score two runs.  Roy Hobbs had a sacrifice fly and Bo Gentry’s singled home the second run.  In the bottom of the second inning, Girl Power tied the game on Nia Jax’s two-run HR.  Wonderboy came right back in the top of the third inning as Gentry again had an RBI single and Davis Birch reached on an error by Jax scoring Jack Elliott.  In the fourth inning, Logan’s two-run HR scored Charlotte Flair tying the game at four.

Paige replaced Bayley with Kay while Lou Brown kept Nuke in the game perhaps showing the faith he has in the star pitcher.  The game remained tied at four through seven innings.  In the bottom of the eighth inning, Girl Power got something started.  Mandy Rose led off the inning with a triple.  Gentry’s error allowed Rose to score the eventual winning run.  Logan’s second HR of the game gave Girl Power a 6-4 lead.  Tamina closed out the game for her second save in as many games.

Pop Fisher’s decision to keep Nuke in the game was the topic of discussion after the game.  “You guys need to stir up some crap all the time.  There is no story here.  I believe in Nuke.  I believe in my bullpen.  Next question.”

Paige was giddy after the game.  “It’s nice to win four straight games but we need to keep going. Winning the series is nice.  But we need to put the hammer down tomorrow.”

Tomorrow’s starters are Steve Nebraska (2-0) vs Sonya Deville (3-0)

Charlotte Flair hit a go-ahead two-run HR in the bottom of the seventh to key Girl Power’s 8-6 victory over Wonderboy.

In a back and forth game we saw Girl Power absorb every blow Wonderboy had and outlasted their opponents to win their third straight game.  Bo Gentry’s double scored Bobby Rayburn giving Wonderboy a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning.  Girl Power came right back and tied the game in the bottom of the inning on Ruby Riott’s RBI groundout.  Wonderboy took the lead back in the top of the fourth inning with Rayburn’s solo HR and RBI’s by Pat Corning and Rudy Suarez.  Girl Power came right back with a two-run HR by Nia Jax.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Girl Power took a 6-5 lead when Carmella singled and stole a run with her speed.  Carmella stole second and scored on an error to tie the game.  Ronda Rousey singled home Charlotte Flair to give Girl Power the lead.  Paige took starting pitcher Lana out after 6 innings in position for the win.  Asuka gave up the lead in the top of the seventh inning on a run-scoring double by Jack Elliott and Gentry’s rbi single gave Wonderboy a 6-5 lead.

In the bottom of the inning, Carmella walked.  Carmella did damage in this game as she stole 4 bases in total.  After she stole second Charlotte hit a two-run HR to give Girl Power the lead.  Sasha Banks walked with the bases loaded giving Girl Power an 8-6 lead and eventual win.

Paige was excited after the game by her team’s fire.  “Momentum.  We need to keep building every game.”

Tomorrow’s starting pitchers are Nuke (2-0) vs Bayley (0-1).

Girl Power wasted a 6-1 lead but won in walk-off fashion on the strength of a Charlotte Flair bases-loaded hit to win 7-6 and take the series over the Outlaws.

Girl Power got off to another fast start taking advantage of shoddy defense by the Outlaws and good situational baseball.  Sasha Banks’ RBI double in the first inning scored Naomi.  After Carmella reached on an error moving Sasha to third she stole her league-leading 11th base.  Charlotte’s RBI groundout scores Sasha and Sarah Logan’s sacrifice fly plated Carmella who’s base running stole a run.

Brock Lesnar and Sami Zayn had back to back triples to cut the lead to 3-1.  In the bottom of the inning, Lacey Evans hit a 2 run HR scoring Nia Jax.  After Ruby Riott reached on an error, she scored on a fielders choice by Charlotte and Girl Power raced out to a 6-1 lead.  The lead was cut to 6-3 after solo HRs by Rusev and Drew McIntyre.

Billy Kaye relieved Bliss and pitched out of a jam to end the 7th inning.  In the 8th inning Drew walked and Elias hit a single followed by a double by Brock Lesnar which chased Kay out of the game.  Alicia Fox relieved her and allowed the fifth run to score.  Tamina needed to get the final out in the 8th inning to keep the score 6-5.

In the ninth inning, the Miz hit a one-out single and stole second.  With two outs Elias singled him in to tie the game at six.  Ruby Rott led off the bottom of the inning with a single.  Naomi was trying to sacrifice Ruby to second and beat the throw to first.  Sasha then singled to load the bases with no one out.  After Carmella lined out Flair’s single won the game and the first series win of the year for Girl Power.

Paige called this game the biggest win of the year.  “We couldn’t blow another game with a big lead and we really needed to win this series.  I love my girls.  We never give up.”  Said Flair, “We pull for each other.  As long as we know we gave it everything inside good things will come.”

Shane McMahon was not granting interviews after the game but the Man of the Hour was.  “I don’t have the words anymore.  Toxic.”  Added Elias, “I need to take a walk right now.  Who is coming.”

Up next for Girl Power is Wonderboy.  The Outlaws play a series at Wild Things.

In what has become a theme for Girl Power Sonya Deville for the third straight start pitched her team out of a losing streak.  This start was her best one yet.  Girl Power scored five early runs and Deville pushed the cruise control button in a 7-3 Girl Power victory.  The win for Deville is her third of the year making her the first pitcher to three wins.

It started early for Girl Power.  Sasha Banks and Carmella had back to back singles in the bottom of the first inning.  After a walk to Sarah Logan, Elias booted a fly ball off the bat of Mandy Rose clearing the bases.  The Outlaws got one run back in the third inning when Sami Zayn hit a solo HR.  In the bottom of the inning, Nia Jax hit a two-run double scoring Logan and Mandy making the score 5-1.

Deville dominated the game from that point on firing 4 straight scoreless innings.  Sami Zayn hit his second solo HR of the game leading off the top of the eighth inning.  God’s Greatest Creation Mandy Rose put the game out of reach in the bottom of the 8th inning as Girl Power evens up the series.

“Tomorrow is a very important game for us.  We have to win this series,” says Paige.

Tomorrow’s rubber match pits Alexa Bliss(0-1) against Shinsuke Nakamura(0-2).

Girl Power starting pitcher Becky Lynch walked four batters and all four scored as Elias hits a grand slam and drives in six runs in route to an Outlaws 10-5 victory.

Becky Lynch really only had one bad inning but she walked the bases loaded and Elias made her pay.  In all Girl Power pitchers issued seven walks and six of them came across to score.  Lio Rush who scored 3 runs in the game lead off the game with a walk and stole second.  With two outs Lio scored ahead of a 2 run HR by Luke Harper.  Girl Power came right back with a 2 run HR by Sarah Logan scoring Naomi who had singled earlier in the inning.

In the top of the third inning, Lynch started to get wild walking Lio and The Miz.  With two outs Samoa Joe walked and Elias blasted one over the wall for a grand slam giving the Outlaws a 6-2 lead.  Girl Power never says die and got one run back on a Carmella RBI single scoring Naomi.  Two innings later Charlotte Flair and Nattie had RBI’s to cut the lead to 6 to 5.  The score remained 6-5 until the top of the 9th inning when the Outlaws put the game out of reach.

The Outlaws batted around and scored four runs with the Miz and Kevin Owens having RBI base hits and Elias driving in two runs.  Shelton Benjamin came in relief of Randy Orton and pitched 3 perfect innings.

After the game, Paige was asked about not having another reliever ready in the 9th inning.  Paige response was next question.  Becky Lynch took full responsibility for the loss.  “This one is on me.  I can’t walk so many batters.”

Tomorrow’s starters are Sonya Deville who for the third straight start will be asked to end a losing streak against  Sheamus.

I still don’t believe what happened.  What a turn of events as Girl Power blows a 7 run lead to Legendary and lose 11-10 in 10 innings.  There were lots of highlights and low lights in this one.

Bayley started for Girl Power and Brett Hart was on the mound for Legendary.

Girl Power struck in the bottom of the first inning after Carmella singled and stole second and scored on Charlotte’s double.  Bubba Ray Dudley drove in 2 runs with a single in the top of the second inning to give Legendary the last lead it would have until the 10th inning.  Girl Power took over this game for the next 5 innings.  After a Sasha Banks double Mandy Rose smacked a 2 run HR.  One inning later Nia Jax took Hart deep.

In the top of the 4th Edge drove home Triple H with a rbi double to slice the lead to 4-3.  Girl Power came right back when Carmella and Charlotte each had rbi singles.  Nattie hit a solo HR off her uncle Brett which ended his night.  With the score 7 to 3 Girl Power Kevin Has entered the game in the bottom of the 6th inning.  Sasha singles and stole second base.  Mandy drove her in with an RBI double.  Carmella reached base on an error and two batters later Nia Jax had a 2 run single extending the lead to 10-3.

Bayley started the 8th inning with a 7 run lead.  Paige kept her in despite Legendary starting to rally.  After a Christian single, a walk to Andre and a double by Hacksaw Jim Duggan plated a run Paige elected to stick with Bayley.  HHH grounded out for the second out of the inning but it drove in another run making it a 10-5 game.  The Undertaker then had an RBI single and after a walk to Steve Austin Bayley was done.  In comes Zelina Vega and promptly allowed an RBI single to Edge before retiring Bubba to end the 8th with the score now Girl Power 10 Legendary 7.

We go to the ninth inning and Vega is still in the game.  After allowing leadoff singles to Shawn Michaels and Christian Vega was removed for closer Tamina.  Tamina had pitched 3 very effective innings in yesterday’s game and it was shocking to see her in the game.  Andre greeted her with a single to load the bases.  After striking out Hacksaw for the first out, Triple H had an RBI single.  The bases were still loaded when the Undertaker popped out to third base.  Austin singled in a run to make it a 10-9 game.  After a walk to Edge tied the game, Bubba struck out to end the inning.  But Legendary had come all the way back to tie the game.

Alicia Fox came out to pitch the 10th inning and after loading the bases with a walk and back to back hits she got Hacksaw to ground into a double play but it scored the eventual game-winning run.

Renee Young was calling the game and had this to say afterward.  “I walked through the clubhouse and it was really quiet.  It felt like a team that was out of answers and in shock.”  Charly Caruso added this after the game, “I think Paige needs to just do the smart thing.  I think she lets her emotions make the decisions for her.  Sooner or later she will have to answer to Stephanie McMahon.”

Afterwards, Paige when asked why she didn’t start Tamina in the 9th, “I honestly don’t have the answers for anything anymore.  It’s all on me.  I make the lineup and pitching changes.”  When asked if she expects more from her players, “Of course I do.  And they know it.  They know they have to play better.  What I said to them will remain between me and my team.”

Michael Hayes on tonight’s game.  “We never quit on that game.  We found a little crack and pushed our way through.  That had to be tough on Girl Power.  But I don’t manage them and can’t worry about their problems.”

Next up for Girl Power is a home series against The Outlaws.  Legendary will play at Wonderboy

Mandy Rose drove in Naomi on a sacrifice fly to give Girl Power a walk-off win in 12 innings against Legendary 5-4.  For the second straight game Girl Power gave up an early lead but today they were able to come out on top.  Girl Power had a chance to take an early lead as Mandy reached on an error leading off the game and promptly stole second.  Carmella grounded out to move her to third but Charlotte Flair struck out.  After walks to Nia Jax and Sarah Logan, Ric Flair was able to get Ronda Rousey to fly out to left field.

After Stone Cold Steve Austin’s sacrifice fly in the second gave Legendary a 1-0 lead Lana took over the game.  She dominated Legendary and allowed her team to take the lead.  Nattie’s RBI double in the bottom of the 4th inning tied the game.  The next batter was Naomi who singled Nattie over to third but was caught trying to steal second base to end the inning.

In the bottom of the fifth God’s Greatest Creation, Mandy Rose hit a solo HR to start a rally for Girl Power.  Carmella followed with a double and Charlotte drove her in.  Three batters later Ronda drove in the 4th run giving Girl Power a 4-1 lead.

Lana got into trouble in the top of the 8th inning with a one-out walk to Hulk Hogan.  With the mighty Andre the Giant coming up next Lana pitched very carefully to him and walked him.  Next up was Hacksaw Jim Duggan who hit a three-run HR to tie the game up at four and knock Lana out of the game.  From that point on the Girl Power bullpen was dominant.

Ric Flair was removed after the 7th inning and Billy Gunn was brought into the game.  After Ronda hit a one-out double and Nattie reached on an error moving Ronda to third, Gunn retired both Naomi and “The Boss” Sasha Banks on pop-ups to short.  In the bottom of the tenth inning and Devon Dudley on the mound Girl Power let yet another chance to end the game slip by them as Mandy grounded out to second with the bases loaded to end the inning.  In the 11th inning once again another golden opportunity was wasted.  Charlotte and Nia singled with one out.  After a long fly out by Logan, Ronda walked to load the bases with two outs.  Kevin Nash who started the inning struck out Nattie to end the threat.

The 12th inning had lots of drama.  With Tamina in for her third inning of work, she gave up a leadoff hit to Batista.  Shawn Michaels then sacrificed him to second.  After getting Hogan to ground out it was decision time for Paige.  She opted to walk Andre to pitch to the Hacksaw.  Tamina made her look smart by striking out Hacksaw to end the inning.

In the bottom of the 12th inning, XPAC was brought into the game.  Naomi led off the inning with a single and stole second.  Sasha sacrificed her to third and Mandy hit a sacrifice fly to end the game.

The win was huge as Paige pointed out after the game.  “It’s good to win games like this.  Tomorrow is a huge game.  We need to start gaining momentum.”  When asked about Lana’s performance today.  “We feel really comfortable when she pitches.  Guys, it’s a really hard part of the lineup to get by.  The walk to Hogan really hurt.  But she pitched her heart out.  Tamina was savage out there too.  I felt we couldn’t let Andre beat us.  But both are great players.”  “We were not going to lose this game no matter what,” said Carmella.  “We are close to getting on a roll.  We can’t wait to get out there tomorrow,” said Mandy

“Girl Power plays with a lot of emotion.  So you know they won’t give up.”  Says Legendary coach Michael Hayes.”  “As a team, we are still looking for that right mix of consistency.  It seems like offensively it’s the same 3 or 4 players every game.”

The rubber match of the series has Bayley pitching for Girl Power against Brett Hart for Legendary.

Girl Power Loses Another Close Game

Legendary spotted Girl Power an early lead before unleashing the power in a 7-4 comeback win.  This game had a combined six HR’s as Andre The Giant once again gave his team a lead late with a big HR.

Shawn Michaels led off the game with as HR of Alexa Bliss.  Girl Power came back to take a 2-1 lead after Sarah Logan slugged her fourth HR of the season.  Charlotte Flair’s sacrifice fly gave Girl Power a 3-1 lead after 3 innings.

In the bottom of the 5th inning there was another decision which Paige will surely get questioned about.  The Rock walked Naomi and Sasha Banks leading off the inning.  Next up was leadoff batter Mandy Rose.  Would Paige have her sacrifice the runners over to second and third or let her swing away.  Paige let Mandy swing away and she hit into a double play killing the inning.

Meanwhile Bliss took complete control of this game holding Legendary scoreless for the next 4 innings.  In the top of the 6th Bliss ran into trouble.  After walking Andre the Giant, Hacksaw Jim Duggan hit a single.  Next up was Triple H who blasted a three run HR to give Legendary a 4-3 lead.   In the bottom of the inning Charlotte tied the game up with a solo HR.  This team never gives up.

Bliss was removed after 7 innings and Zelina Vega was brought in to pitch the top of the eight inning.  Andre hit his league leading 10th HR to give Legendary a 5-4 lead.  Three batters later Steve Austin hit a 2 run HR to extend the lead to 7-4.  Girl Power did get the first two men on base in the bottom of the ninth off “The Perfect Closer” Curt Henning but pinch hitter Nikki Bella grounded into a double play and Naomi struck out to end the game.

Paige after the game was short and testy.  “Yeah why did I not put the bunt on.  The Rock was wild and thought he would groove a pitch to Mandy which he did and she hit it hard.  Shit happens.  Vega is good.  But that is a tough part of their lineup to pitch to.  Andre has been killing every team all year long.”  When asked about the offense.  “We get hits and men on base but at times we can’t string enough hits together.”  When asked about always changing the lineup, “That is the first smart thing that was said to me all season long.  No seriously.  Maybe I need to keep one lineup for a few games.”

Meanwhile Michael Hayes still in awe of Andre.  “Wow.  He never ceases to amaze me.”

Tomorrow it will be Ric Flair vs Lana in yet another must win game for Girl Power.

Game 9 Stories

Sonya Deville is starting to build up a reputation as the team stopper.  For the second time in as many starts Deville stopped a losing streak as Girl Power avoids a sweep to Wonderboy with a 7-3 victory.

The game did not start off good for Deville as Juan Primo led off the game with a double and Bobby Rayburn hit a 2 run HR that erased a brief 1-0 lead Girl Power lead on a solo HR by Charlotte Flair.

Sarah Logan’s solo HR in the second tied the game up and Carmella’s solo shot gave Girl Power the lead in the 3rd inning.  Girl Power continued to talk on the runs in the 4th as Nikki Bella drove in Ronda Rousey with a sacrifice fly and Nattie drove in Logan with a double.

Juan Primo had an RBI single in the 5th for Wonderboy making the score 5-3 Girl Power as Deville settled in and finished the game by pitching 7 innings of 3 run ball.  In the 9th inning Nikki Bella hit a 2 run HR to put the game away.  Zelina Vega pitched 2 scoreless innings in relief for another bright spot.

Girl Power is just 2-7 on the season but have been in every game.  “We really needed that win today,” said Paige.  “I know we will be fine.  These women compete every game.  We will get results.  It will come.”

Wonderboy is 5-4 on the season and while star catcher Crash Davis is set to return from an injury Low Collins went down today.  We asked Pop Fisher about the injuries.  “We were excited to get Crash back tomorrow and then Lou goes down.  But I don’t expect to struggle like out backup catchers did when Crash was out.”  When asked about Girl Power.  “Tough team.  They were right there with us.  Those games could have gone either way.  They also did a great job controlling Roy Hobbs.”

Next up for Girl Power is Legendary.  Wonderboy gets Wild Things.

Finn Balor pitched 7 strong innings and Aleister Black drives in 4 runs as Brotherhood avoids a sweep with an 8-2 win over Legendary.

Roman Reigns singled home Kofi Kingston in the top of the first inning and Brotherhood never looked back from there.  Balor got into a groove, firing zeros at Legendary as Brotherhood started to pull away in the middle innings.

Black hit a 2 run HR in the 5th and followed that with a 2 run base hit in the 6th to build a 6-0 lead.  The Brotherhood victory forged a tie with Legendary for the top spot in the league.

“Balor was tremendous today,” said Titus O’Neil.  “He was impressive and Aleister stepped up hitting before Kofi who is always in the middle of every rally.”  Next up for Brotherhood is a home series with the Outlaws.  Legendary goes on the road to play Girl Power.

Wild Things scored 5 runs in the first two innings as Chet Steadman and the bullpen held on to pick up a hard fought 5-4 victory over the Outlaws.

Darryl Palmer hit a 2 run HR in the top of the first inning and followed that by cracking a 3 run HR the next inning to give the Wild Things all the runs they would need in route to the victory.

Before the game got out of line Outlaw Manager Shane McMahon replaced starting pitcher Sheamus with Andrade in the top of the third inning with the bases loaded and 2 out.  Andrade got that last batter out and pitched another 6 innings of scoreless baseball to keep The Outlaws in the game.

Drew McIntyre drove in the first Outlaw run in the 4th inning followed by RBI’s by Erick Rowan and Brock Lesnar in the 6th inning.  With the Wild Things clinging to a 5-3 lead things got interesting in the bottom of he 8th.

With Cliff Youngsberry in the game he walked Luke Harper. Then Mcintyre and The Miz followed with singles to load the bases with no one out.  Erick Rowan’s RBI groundout made the score 5-4 and on the play McIntyre and Miz made it to second and third.  Youngsberry then retired the next 2 batters to end the inning,

The Duke came into the 9th inning for the save and he promptly gave up a lead off single to Lio Rush.  Rush stole second to put the tying run on second.  Shane McMahon then had Sami Zayn try to sacrifice Rush to third, but he was cut down.  After Zayn’s failed sacrifice bunt attempt The Duke settled down and struck out Elias and Luke Harper to end the game.

The Outlaws failed to sweep Wild Things but the play has improved.  But we have been unable to speak to any of the players and management as the McMahons are still not allowing media access.  Next up for the Outlaws is a series against the first place Brotherhood.

Wild Things manager Lou Brown had this to say after the game.  “We needed that win.  No one wants to get swept.  Darryl got us started early.  I felt Chet was starting to lose it.  We may have gotten fortunate we held on to win.  Youngsberry has got to pitch better.” Next up for Wild Things is a series at Wonderboy.
